Helping prevent food allergies before they start.

ORINDA, CA – March 6, 2020 – Today, Square Baby announces the launch of two new Square Meals, “Coconut Shrimp Fried Rice” and “Almond Butter & Banana” — rounding out their Early Allergen Introduction menu and becoming the only baby food company offering all of the Top 8 Allergens with whole, fresh foods.

While many of today’s top baby food companies are touting “allergen-free,” Square Baby is doing the opposite and leaning into recent research.

For decades, pediatricians and allergists recommended delaying allergen introduction. However, recent studies like LEAP, EAT, and PETIT have shown that introducing allergens early and often may help prevent food allergies from developing.

“Recent clinical trials indicate that you can help prevent food allergies in your baby before they start. Due to this new scientific evidence, the Academy of Pediatrics recommends introducing allergenic foods early and often to help prevent the development of food allergies. I recommend parents introduce and continue to feed a wide variety of healthy foods starting around 4 to 6 months old, including allergenic foods in a consistency that a baby can handle.”

“As a science-based company, we are committed to following the most recent research and American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations,” says Katie Thomson, registered dietitian, co-founder and CEO of Square Baby.

“Today, we’re excited to introduce our incredibly delicious Coconut Shrimp Fried Rice, made with sautéed shrimp, organic mango, pineapple, carrot, corn, California basmati rice, egg, coconut milk, sesame oil, and lime. We’re also launching our seriously cravable Almond Butter & Banana made with organic almonds, banana, corn, white beans, and whole wheat flour. Our two new meals complete our Allergen Introduction Menu with the addition of shellfish, tree nuts, and wheat options — alongside our current offerings with dairy, egg, fish, soy, and peanut.”

“Our mission is to ‘Inspire Healthy Eaters for Life’,” says Thomson. “We’re committed to offering a diverse array of whole foods to broaden babies’ palates and introduce them to potentially allergenic foods to help reduce their risk of developing food allergies so they can grow up to enjoy those foods for a lifetime.”

Coconut Shrimp Fried Rice and Almond Butter & Banana are available today for online ordering along with their other 21 meals at www.SquareBaby.com. For Bay Area parents, the meals will also be available at Square Baby’s retail store & tasting bar in Orinda Theatre Square.
